Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

The short version.

We collect the details we need to run your account, take payment and provide your workstation. Your footage and files belong to you: we only store and process them to provide the service.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, at any time by emailing admin@editanyware.com.

1. Who we are

EditAnyware (“we”, “us”) is a cloud editing service: you book a remote workstation, upload your footage and edit in your web browser. This policy explains how we handle personal information about the people who use it.

The service is provided by The Naked Film Co. Ltd (company number 17233307), registered office Fusion Consulting Group, Devonshire Business Centre, Works Road, Letchworth, Hertfordshire, SG6 1GJ. For the information described in section 2 under “Your account, bookings and usage”, we are the “controller” under UK data protection law. For your footage and files (section 4) we act on your behalf as a “processor”.

Contact us at admin@editanyware.com for anything in this policy.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To provide the service you asked for (our contract with you): creating your account, setting up projects and bookings, building and running your workstation, uploading and storing your files, backing up your work, taking payment and sending the emails you need (sign-up code, password reset, invitations). Optional details such as your photo and phone number are used because you chose to give them to us, and you can remove them at any time.
  • To keep the service safe and working (our legitimate interest): security monitoring, preventing misuse and fraud, fixing faults, and keeping records of how the platform is used so we can bill correctly and help you when something goes wrong.
  • To answer your questions and improve EditAnyware (our legitimate interest): replying to your emails and feedback.
  • To meet legal duties: keeping accounting and tax records, and responding to lawful requests.

We do not use your personal information for marketing without asking you first, we do not sell it, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Your footage and files

Your footage and files are yours. We store, copy, transcode (make proxy files from), back up and process them only to provide the service to you, as set out in our Terms. For this content you are the controller and we are your processor; the data processing summary in Schedule 1 of the Terms describes the arrangement. Our team will open your workstation or files only to set up licensing, give support you have asked for, keep the service secure, or where the law requires.

If your footage shows other people, you are responsible for having a lawful reason to upload it. Tell us if you need a separate data processing agreement.

5. Who we share information with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run EditAnyware. They process information only on our instructions, or (for Stripe, in part) for their own legal and fraud-prevention duties.

ProviderWhat they do for us
Amazon Web ServicesHosting, file storage, databases, the workstations themselves, sign-in, the emails we send for sign-in and invitations, and live review streaming.
StripeTakes and stores card payments.
MicrosoftOur company email (for example, messages you send to admin@editanyware.com).
NetlifyHosts the website pages you are reading now.
GoDaddyOur domain name and its settings.
Google (Google Fonts)Our pages load their typefaces from Google, so your internet address is sent to Google when a page loads.

Within your team, other people on your account can see what their role allows: Production Managers can see projects, bookings, costs and team members, and Editors can see the workstation assigned to them and the project’s media. We may also share information where the law requires, or to protect our rights, or in a sale or restructuring of the business (the new owner would have to respect this policy).

6. Where information is processed

Your account details, files and workstations are stored and run in Amazon’s London (UK) data centres. Live review streaming is handled in Amazon’s Ireland region. Some of our providers (for example Stripe, Netlify, Microsoft and Google) may also process information in other countries, including the United States. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards UK law accepts, such as the UK’s approved transfer agreements or the UK–US data bridge.

7. How long we keep it

InformationHow long
Account and profile detailsWhile your account is open. After you close it we delete or anonymise them within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
Camera originalsDeleted 7 days after your proxies are ready. If you work directly with your camera files, our copy is deleted 7 days after your last booking for the project ends.
Proxy files and project filesWhile the project is kept, and for 30 days after your account closes so you can take them away.
Routine backups of your Documents and Desktop foldersEach backup replaces the last, and they are kept while the project is kept.
Full-disk backup when a workstation is removed30 days, then deleted. We email you before we delete it.
Files you delete from our storageOlder versions are kept for up to 14 days as a safety net against accidents, then removed permanently.
Billing and invoice records6 years, as UK accounting and tax law requires.
Record of the Terms you acceptedFor as long as we need to show you agreed to them, normally up to 6 years after your account closes.
Security and error logsUp to 90 days.
Messages you send us (support and feedback)For as long as we need them to deal with your request and improve the service, then deleted.

8. Keeping it safe

Information travels over encrypted connections. Our file storage and databases are encrypted at rest. Each customer’s files are kept separate from every other customer’s, access inside our systems is limited by role, and every workstation is dedicated to one booking. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your own copy of anything important and keep your sign-in details private. If there is a personal data breach that puts you at risk, we will tell you without undue delay, and tell the Information Commissioner’s Office where the law requires.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies. We use your browser’s own storage to keep you signed in and to remember your display preference (light, dark or neon). These are needed for the service to work, so we do not ask for consent for them. On the pages where you enter card details, Stripe may use cookies and device information to prevent fraud.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • be told what we hold about you, and to get a copy;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • have your information deleted, in many cases;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or to object to uses based on our legitimate interests;
  • receive the information you gave us in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it (for example, for your photo).

To use any of these, email admin@editanyware.com. We may ask you to confirm who you are, we do not charge, and we will normally reply within one month. If you are not happy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

If your footage or files belong to a company or production, please contact that company in the first place, because they decide how that content is used; we will help them respond.

11. Children

EditAnyware is a professional service for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change matters to you we will tell you by email.
